Howick Primary SchoolDescription: Logo[1]
Junior Weekly Newsletter
26th June - 30th June
Room 16

A big thank you to all the families who have returned their money and/ or chocolates for our P.T.A. fundraiser.

litterless lunches
  • We are working on cutting down the amount of litter at school.
  • One way to help us do this is for each child to try and have a litterless lunch.
  • That would mean taking the food item out of the packet at home and just having the food in the lunchbox.
  • Reusable containers are great for keeping the food fresh.
Safety
  • We need everyone’s help please to keep our children safe!
  • Please ensure that all our school gates are shut securely behind you when you enter and leave the school grounds.
  • Thank you!
Mid Year Conferences
  • We look forward to seeing you all at our Mid-Year Conferences.
  • Conferences will be held on Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th of July.
  • A letter will come home Monday, June 26th with the school code for the School Interview website.
  • Bookings open on Monday, June 26th at 3pm.
Disco
  • Thursday 6th July - Hawaian Theme
  • Year: 0-3 children = 6.00pm -7.00pm
  • All Junior students must be accompanied by an adult
  • Year: 4-6 children = 7.00pm - 8.00pm
  • Cost: $2 per child or $5 for a family
  • Venue: HPS Hall for Disco, Parent Zone in Staffroom
  • More details to come
SNAG Golf
  • Lesson 2 is coming up for Room 16 on Thursday this week.
  • Children can bring sports clothes/shoes to wear for these sessions
Reminder:
No kicking balls on the concrete please

  • Please do not play soccer on the concrete outside the classes before, during or after school due to the risk of injury and damage to windows.
  • In Autumn/Winter the grass areas are also out of bounds to prevent accidents, uniforms getting dirty and mud being taken into classrooms.
  • Once the good weather returns, our beautiful fields and grass areas will be open again for more soccer fun.
Reading
  • Please remember to read to and/or with your child nightly.
  • Children of all ages and abilities benefit from both hearing adults read to them as well as reading their own books to you.
  • Hearing an adult read enables children to hear what great reading is like.
  • Encouraging your child to imagine the book in their head as they read (or make a movie of the book in their imagination) is also a great skill that helps children retell each story and correctly answer questions about it.
Uniform
  • Please ensure every item of your child’s uniform is named.
  • If your child is found to be wearing a non-uniform item, they will be asked to remove it and a letter will be sent home with your child explaining what changes need to be made.
Class blogs
  • Please check your child’s class blog for weekly letters and other info.
  • Take a look at our latest photos of our learning and other school events
